This is a song I wrote quite a few years ago. Initially while composing the lyrics, I had a great country singer in mind, Garth Brooks. It is a fairly fast moving country styled song with some offset music to accompany the lyrics.

I was drivin’ through Las Vegas, I was runnin’ away,

tryin’ to find some peace of mind, when I saw all the night-lights

up and down the main drag, it sure is a beautiful sight.

I stopped and walked in a casino just to get an overview of what was going on,

People tryin’ their luck with the roulette wheels, and one-arm bandit machines.

I stopped at a table, a pretty lady sittin’ there shuffling a deck of cards.

She asked me, would ya like to play, I said please teach me the game cause I’m not the gamblin’ kind.

She explained as the cards were layed, picture-cards and aces high,

and don’t forget the moist important thing, big man don’t go over twenty-one.

Black jack. I was just lucky.

Black jack. Oh yeah, I Caught her again.

Black jack. I split and doubled.

Black jack. I see fortune and fame.

Black jack. It makes your heart beat faster.

Black jack. Oh lord, its thunder, wind, and lightnin’.

I was on a winning streak, chips were piled in-front of me,

must’ve been a couple hundred grand or more.

The manager came over, tapped me on the shoulder, invited me to see the show.

I was winded and dined just like a king but, I had to go back for more.

Mister Caesar, you’ll really be sorry ya let me walk through your door.

I went back to the table, now a mustache man was sitting’ there wearin’ a Colgate grin.

I asked’im, where’s the pretty lady that was dealin’ the cards when I first came in.

It was time to change the dealers my friend, he said, it’s a house-rule- and policy.

I rolled up my sleeves, and said; let’s wheel and deal cause now you’re playin’ the game with me.

Black jack. He was just lucky.

Black jack. Oh yeah, he caught me again.

Black jack. I split and doubled.

Black jack. No fortune or fame.

Black jack. It makes your heart beat faster.

Black jack. Oh lord, its thunder, wind, and lightnin’.

Las Vegas, oh yeah, ya saw me coming,

Night-lights, good lord, why didn’t ya let me thru.

Black jack, you took all my money.

Las Vegas, it’s too good to be true.

Black jack. It makes your hear beat faster.

Las Vegas, now you cured me for good.
